PLH has designed a new media center for the Aller Group, one of Denmark’s largest publishing and media businesses. The new 8 storey, 18,000 m2 media center occupies a prominent position on the Copenhagen waterfront. The 3-sided building, with its slightly curved facades in glass/aluminium and blue granite, terminates in a sharp angle projecting into the harbour – and the aluminium roofing panels reflecting into the seafront. . The Architects has created a functional, innovative and comprehensive building and integrated sustainability in the design and technical solutions.
The building encloses a fan-shaped atrium with balconies, integrated half-landings and vantage points. The glass/aluminium atrium draws daylight deeply within the building, while automatic sunshading curtains - vowen with aluminium - is linked to temperature and angle of sun. The seawater based ventilation system and the plywood decorated aluminium panels in conjunction with acustic panels makes it a pleasent workplace.
